Meals on Wheels volunteers needed
West Hill Community Services needs drivers for their Meals-on-Wheels and Congregate Dining programs. Prospective workers need to be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays and be at least 18, have a valid driver’s license and their own vehicle. Orchid Show
An orchid show runs at the Chinese Cultural Centre, April 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 10,000 plants will be on display in an 8,500-square-foot exhibition room. Attendees will be able to purchase plants from roughly 30 different professional and amateur growers.

Aza’s party for the planet
The Toronto Zoo is hosting Greenfest April 19-20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family oriented event is going to take place in the Educational Auditorium and will host activities that focus on water conservation. Children will learn about how the Zoo is working to help the environment. Tickets are $20.

Great Strides(TM) Walk
The Toronto Zoo has paired with Great StridesTM to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. Participants who raise a minimum of $25 will receive free entrance to the zoo on walk day. They’ll also receive lunch and a performance from Franklin the Turtle along with other walk activities. Pledge collection is online and walk day is May 25. www.cysticfibrosis.ca/greatstrides.

Free badminton lessons
A youth badminton club is hosting free lessons at the Scarborough Bluffs United Church Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls age eight and older are encouraged to come out. (416) 261-3412 for more information.
