Suspect injured in 5-storey jump

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into an incident in which a man fell five storeys from a building during a police chase.

At 1:40 a.m. Monday, police executed a search warrant at an apartment building located at 750 Mornelle Ct. The SIU said the suspect “jumped” from the balcony as police entered the apartment.

Witnesses said that despite obvious injuries, the suspect jumped a fence and ran down the street before being caught by police at the intersection of Morningside Ave. and Military Trail.

“You could see the bone sticking out of his leg,” the building’s superintendent said.

The 25-year-old suspect is currently being treated at Sunnybrook hospital for a fractured left leg and a compound fracture in his right leg.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
