Man falls five storeys during police search

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has terminated its investigation into an incident in which a man fell five storeys after finding police were not at fault for the suspect’s injuries.
At 1:40 a.m. on September 14, police executed a search warrant at an apartment building located at 750 Mornelle Court. The SIU reports that the suspect jumped from the balcony as police entered the apartment.
“You could see the bone sticking out of his leg,” the building’s superintendent said.
Witnesses say that despite obvious injuries the suspect jumped a fence and ran down the street before being caught by police at the intersection of Morningside Ave and Military Trail.
The 25-year-old suspect was treated at Sunnybrook Hospital for a fractured left leg and a compound fracture in his right leg.
Toronto Police Services would not comment on the details of the search warrant or any possible charges.
