Germany continue their dominance in women’s luge

Team Germany showed no signs of letting up as they continued their dominance in run three of women’s luge on Tuesday in Vancouver.

Three of the top five lugers are of German decent, including Torino bronze medalist Tatjana Huefner, who sits in first at 2:04.907.

Natalie Geisenberger, who picked up eight medals in the 2009 World Cup, remains in third place with a combined time of 2:05.200.

Austrian Nina Reithmayer is in second place, five-tenths of second behind Huefner. Reithmayer was not on the radar when it came to expected medalists in women’s luge and will try to give the surprise.

German Anke Wischnewski completes the top five with a time of 2:05.364.

On the Canadian front, Alex Gough continued her struggles on the shorter track as she places 19th, while Regan Lauscher is 17th. Meghan Simister dropped one rank to 26th going into the fourth and final round.

The finals will be taking place today at 5:50 ET.
