Three Canadians advance to ski cross finals

Ski cross made its Olympic debut on Sunday with three Canadians advancing to the medal round.

Only 32 skiers advanced to the final at Cypress Mountain.

Canada is a heavy favourite to medal with the potential to sweep the podium if they can manage clean runs.

Top Canadian was Chris Del Bosco who qualified in second place with a time of 1:12:89. Stanley Hayer finished in 10th place and Davey Barr in 25th.

The fastest time went to Michael Schmid of Switzerland with a time of 1:12:53. Notable mentions include Xavier Kuhn of France, Andreas Matt of Austria and his teammate Thomas Zangerl.

Czech Republic’s Zdenek Safar had a spill halfway through his race and did not complete the run.

The medal run is set to go at 12:15 p.m. (PST.)
