Berardinetti wins in Ward 35

Four years ago, residents in Ward 35 chose their city councillor by an 89 vote margin.

Today, voters came out in the thousands to send Michelle Berardinetti to city hall.

“It’s great,” a beaming Berardinetti said in a crowded office on Warden Avenue. “I’m humbled by the response from everybody”

Volunteers at her party voiced their support by enthusiastically chanting her name.

Her husband Lorenzo, the MPP for the area, congratulated the packed room.

“This victory is 100 per cent hers,” he said. “She had a great message and it resonated within this community.”

That message was to get rid of the land transfer tax and bike lanes on Birchmount Road and Pharmacy Avenue, all things incumbent Adrian Heaps supported during his office term.

“I’m going to be knocking on a lot of doors saying thank you,” Berardinetti said.
