Ward 44 incumbent Ron Moeser re-elected

Despite keeping a low profile during the election, Ron Moeser has been re-elected by a one per cent margin in Ward 44.

Moeser declined to comment tonight but his friends and family say he is excited about his victory and is expected to make an official statement to the Toronto Observer tomorrow.

He defeated challenger Diana Hall by 284 votes in a tally count that lasted over two hours after polls closed.

Moeser spent the evening at home with his family.

“I’m surprised. I really was surprised, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles,” said Diana Hall after the official results were announced.

She thanked all of her supporters and volunteers for their efforts and is unsure whether she will run again in four years.

“I’m surprised,” said Carolyn Elbertsen, a Hall supporter. “I was hoping for some change.”

Moeser was first elected to city council in 1988.
