Cinephiles flock to Sugar Beach by land and sea for TPA’s 100th

A flotilla of small boats and an army of movie lovers descended on the waterfront at Sugar Beach this weekend to help mark the 100th anniversary of the Toronto Port Authority (TPA). Sail-In Cinema, billed as the first floating movie theatre of its kind in North America, featured three nautical-themed movies shown on a 28-foot double-sided screen.

‘Fun little festival’ transforms Bloorcourt

The busy stretch of Bloor Street West from Shaw Street to Dovercourt Road was transformed into a pedestrian-only piazza Saturday. The first annual Bloorcourt Arts and Crafts Street Fair, organized by the Bloorcourt Business Improvement Area, took the street over from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and featured shopping, live entertainment and fun for kids.

A gas shortage in the GTA has some motorists feeling a bit nervous about topping up their tanks. "I don’t know what I would do if I was on empty and I went to a gas station that wasn’t able to provide me gas," said Toronto resident Lindsey Kemp.

Free bike clinic aims to get people moving on two wheels

Stephen Dolphin would be travelling on foot or hoping on and off the TTC the rest of the summer if it wasn't for a free bike clinic near his east-end home. The 17-year-old says he's grateful to the mechanics who fixed his bike at no cost at Main Square, the Danforth Avenue apartment complex where he lives with his parents.
