Bas Balkissoon of the Liberal Party has been elected in Scarborough-Rouge River for the third time.
With over 80 per cent of the polls reporting, Balkisson has a margin of approximately 1,500 votes over his nearest rival. In the previous election, Balkissoon cruised to victory by nearly 17,000 votes.
“Going into this campaign, I have to say I had my reservations,” he told supporters.
NDP’s Neethan Shan came in second place. The riding had the tightest race in Scarborough.
The Liberals have held the riding since 1985.
