Liberal Wong takes Scarborough-Agincourt

With three-quarters of the polls reporting, Liberal Soo Wong has been elected in the riding of Scarborough-Agincourt by a margin of nearly 8,000 votes.

“I don’t know what to say — it’s been an amazing journey,” Wong told her supporters.

“You people inspire me, challenge me and most importantly make me believe in what I do.”

Wong’s campaign in the riding was marred by controversy after questions were raised about her job as a school trustee.

The other main contenders in the riding were Progressive Conservative candidate Liang Chen and the NDP’s Paul Choi. Liberal Gerry Phillips had stepped down as MPP after holding the seat for 24 years.
