NDP comes second in Scarborough-Rouge River

With the majority of polls reporting, NDP candidate Neethan Shan has lost the race for Scarborough-Rouge River to Liberal Bas Balkissoon.

Shan, who has already congratulated Balkissoon, said that it was a very short campaign that had an amazing following but did not quite cut it.

“We’re very excited about the progress,” he said. “But unfortunately, we just couldn’t do it this time.

“We had an amazing amount of energy, and made headway in many polls if you look at the numbers.”

Shan said the campaign was not just about winning but about “increasing participation and raising issues in the community.”

“I’m glad we did that,” he added.
