East York sticks with its MPPs

It was a clean sweep last night for the incumbents in all three East York ridings.

Liberal Kathleen Wynne lived up to her name, winning with 24,454 votes or 58.3 per cent of the vote in Don Valley West. She easily defeated Andrea Mandel-Campbell, bringing in nearly twice as many votes as the 11,626 claimed by the Conservative candidate.

Wynne has represented Don Valley West since 2003, making this her third term.

In Beaches-East York, NDP incumbent Michael Prue was returned to the seat he has held since 2001. He earned 17,807 votes, or 46.6 per cent of the total, while Liberal candidate Helen Burstyn trailed with 13,816, or 36.2 per cent.

In Toronto-Danforth, NDP incumbent Peter Tabuns beat out Liberal Marisa Sterling with almost twice as many votes. He finished with 19,701 votes, or 53.9 per cent, compared to Sterling’s 11,209 votes, or 30.7 per cent.
