Bick’s Pickle co-founder dies

Walter Bick, co-founder of Bick’s Pickle died on Oct. 17, 2011 at the age of 94 after suffering a stroke two weeks prior. In the weeks before his death, he talked about his success stories with his children. The Bick’s pickle story is truly a story of great Canadian success.

Occupy protest like having ‘nice people’ camped out in your backyard

As the Occupy Toronto protest enters its third week, some questions are being raised about the effect on the neighbourhood near the protest’s St. James Park campsite. Reverend Douglas Stoute, the Dean and Rector of St. James’ Cathedral, which sits within the occupied park, said the campers have actually been respectful of the grounds and the community.

Committee votes to keep wind gauge on Lake Ontario

Despite local opposition to the city’s installation of a wind gauge offshore at the Scarborough bluffs, the anemometer will remain in Lake Ontario until fall of 2012. Responding to some of his constituents’ concerns, during a meeting of executive committee at Toronto city hall on Tuesday, Scarborough East Coun. Paul Ainslie had proposed to remove the device. However, Coun. David Shiner worried that removal of the device would waste more money.
