The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) asked Scarborough residents to attend several workshops last weekend where they helped identify ways the community can remedy issues experienced in some neighbourhoods by Highland Creek.

StreetARToronto aims to beautify city, reduce vandalism

Street artist Angel Carillo, whose work is pictured, says he's excited that the new StreetARToronto program may inspire illegal taggers to become legal graffiti artists.

Toronto will be getting a new paint job starting this summer. The city’s new StreetARToronto (StART) program is aiming to put up wall murals to add flavour and character to many of its neighbourhoods. These may be done as graffiti, stencil, mosaic, projections or other techniques.

Copper thefts ‘definitely getting worse’

Angela Martin was devastated when she and her husband discovered a 100-year-old home they had been renovating on their property had been gutted. The culprits, she says, were after copper. She describes fixings being torn and smashed, all the copper pulled from the wreckage of the house.
