Young artists concert

What: To kick off another exciting season, The Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), invites you to attend their free admission, Young Artists Concert featuring a number of impressive talents.

Come out to the Scarborough Civic Centre Rotunda on the last Sunday in September to hear one of Scarborough’s leading performing arts ensembles debut its 27th season with this popular event. This free event features up-and-coming young artists who work with CBSO’s full orchestra.

One guest artist is Cellist Alik Volkov. He’ll play a solo for cello and orchestra.

Soprano Victoria Medeiros also will delight you by singing a few operatic excerpts.

Scarborough’s outstanding community orchestra will end with a performance of the fabulous Grieg Piano Concerto. Guest Artist Maggie Morrison, “that blonde pianist,” will perform with the full orchestra. You can hear how great she is by listening to the short audio samples at http://www.maggiemorrison.com/.

By itself, the symphony also will perform several Canadian compositions plus a rousing medley of Duke Ellington favourites.

Come early or bring your own folding chair because the Young Artists Concert is usually standing room only. (Optionally, you may pick your own spot to stand and view from the balcony or the stairway that will overlook the concert held in the Rotunda).

Where: Scarborough Civic Centre,150 Borough Dr.
