Man charged in Danzig shooting

Police charged a suspect with two counts of first-degree murder and various other offences in connection to the Danzig Street shooting which occurred in July this year.

Homicide Squad Inspector Greg Mclane made the announcement Thursday Nov. 8 at a morning at a press conference.

On July 27, 2012, the suspect was arrested on a charge of uttering death threats just prior to the July 16 shootout. He has been held in custody since then.

Police say they gained new evidence over the course of their investigation leading them to believe that the alleged Malvern Crew gang member was one of the shooters.

Police are seeking two other men in connection with the shooting, though they will not comment on whether they are sought as suspects or witnesses. Sketches of the men are available on the Toronto police website.

On Nov. 7, 2012, Shaquan “Bam Bam” Mesquito, 18, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, 23 counts of aggravated assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.
