Arrests made in armed robbery spree

Five charged after Scarborough home invasion

Five men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a home in the Sheppard Avenue and Neilson Road area on March 19.

The men are suspects in 10 other armed robberies between June 2012 and March 2013. In those cases, masked men brandished handguns while while demanding cash and jewellery from their victims, police say.

The suspects were arrested after fleeing the scene by officers of the Toronto police Hold-Up Squad.

Facing charges are Bismella Dost, 26, Muhammad Ishaq, 27, Joshua Geness, 20, Homayoo Popal, 25, and Schmaul Richards, 21.

They face a total of 86 charges, including forcible confinement and armed robbery.

Witnesses with information are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS or police at 416-808-7350.
