Stock ticker, dual-screen computers, lecture podium and UTSC hoodies are what people can expect to see when they step into the new financial lab at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus (UTSC).
It’s located in the Instructional Centre (IC) at the intersection of Military Trail and Ellesmere Road.
“This new addition to the campus adds credibility to a growing management program that attracts students from around the world,” Kim, a graduate from the management program at the UTSC campus, said.
The lab possesses 60 dual-screen computers, each one loaded with the latest programs. A stock ticker displaying real-time information, four Bloomberg terminals — a computer system that enables users access to real-time data, and a lecture podium for the professor to teach from are also found inside the building.
Vikash Saunders, 20, is enrolled in this management program and found the upgrades to be beneficial.
“To have the resources that real-world professionals have access to and learn how to use them … gives us an advantage over other students,” Saunders said.
Judy Zhu, 20, is an international student enrolled in the management program. She believes that “it’s really good” that UTSC has made improvements.
“I think it adds credibility to their image and improves its ranking in the eyes of parents and their children who are applying for university,” Zhu said.
