Cops to shave heads to fight cancer

Annual fundraiser taking place this weekend

The annual Cops for Cancer fundraiser will be held April 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Toronto Police have announced.

Several dozen Toronto police and other law enforcement officers are to have their heads shaved to support the Canadian Cancer Society.

“This event is a hugely positive way for the police and community to join forces in the fight against cancer,” Staff Sergeant Chris Boddy said.

Since 1999, over $750,000 has been raised in Toronto with over $70,000 raised in last year’s event.

Cops for Cancer has raised over $45 million for cancer research since it was founded in Edmonton in 1994.
