Georgia Walsh, 7, was killed in traffic at Millwood Road and McRae Drive.

A man was charged with careless driving and running a red light in connection with the death of 7-year-old Georgia Walsh. The accident took place on July 16 at Millwood Road and McRae Drive in the Leaside Area.

Walsh, the daughter of Conservative Party president John Walsh, was allegedly hit by a minivan while crossing the street. The minivan was making a right turn at the intersection. Walsh was taken to hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Following the accident, Leaside residents launched a “Kids At Play” campaign, putting up lawn signs to remind drivers to slow down.

Signs to slow traffic were set up by Leaside residents after Walsh fatality.

Toronto city council also adopted a motion last month to ban right turns on red lights at that same intersection.

Ranko Stupar, 50, was not present at the College Park court today but was represented by his lawyer.

The case has been remanded until Oct. 2.
