Major Highway 410 improvements announced

12-km stretch to be expanded to 10 lanes, transport minister says

Ontario transportation minister Steven Del Luca announced Tuesday the start of a repair and expansion project on Highway 410.

The project will span a 12-km stretch of the highway from just south of Highway 401 to Queen Street in Brampton, Del Luca told a press conference in Brampton.

Lanes in that stretch will be expanded from six lanes to 10 lanes including one High Occupancy Lane (HOV) and two new carpool lots, he said.

“Our goal is to improve the flow of traffic in and out of Toronto,” said Del Luca. “The project will improve the lives of commuters all over the city and the GTA.”

The $156.7-million contract was given to Aecon Construction and Materials Limited and is set for completion in 2018.
