Police release video in pizza parlour shooting

Surveillance footage shows suspect entering the crime scene

Toronto Police has released security camera footage showing the suspect of a Scarborough double-shooting being dropped off near the crime scene.

The shooting took place on Sept. 14 outside Halal Pizza Time and Restaurant near Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue.

Police arrived on scene to find two men with gunshot wounds. One of the men was taken to hospital and the other, 31-year-old Abdul Monir, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At a press conference Tuesday, Det. Sgt. Graham Gibson said police are hoping for an unidentified female that can be seen in the video to come forth.

“We spoke to other people in the area and they described her as wearing a headscarf and possibly living in the area,” Gibson said.

Gibson said that police believe the woman, despite her proximity to the crime scene, is in fact just a witness.

“After speaking to other witnesses, we believe she lived in that area,” he said. “She was only following the suspect because she was on her way home and she wants to get inside.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
