Two hospitalized in Toronto after drug lab explodes

Man, woman suffer severe burns following a drug lab explosion in Oshawa home

A 56-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were taken to a Toronto trauma centre with severe burns after an explosion at an Oshawa house.

The two were operating a small drug lab in a backyard shed when the boiling contents exploded. Durham Regional Police were called to the scene at Adelaide Street West and Gibbons Street on Monday at approximately 9:30 p.m.

A search warrant was executed at the address on Wednesday where police seized drugs, drug paraphernalia and other property.

The investigation is ongoing and police are monitoring the condition of the two injured people. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2766.
