Taxi driver assaulted and robbed by passengers

Police search for two men after Saturday robbery

Toronto Police have released information on the robbery and assault of a taxi driver on Oct. 4 at the corner of Wellington and Portland streets.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., two men entered a taxi on Front Street East and Sherbourne Street, police say. They reportedly asked the driver to go to Wellington and Portland.

Police say once they arrived, one of the men robbed the taxi driver and began punching him while the other man attempted to choke the driver from behind.

One suspect is described as white, 5-foot-6, 22–27 years old, and haring a thin build and curly brown hair. He was wearing a hat with a red sports jersey and had on large dark-rimmed glasses.

The other suspect is described as white, 5-foot-7, 25–26 years old, and having a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with grey shorts.

They were last seen heading westbound on Wellington Street West.
