Kennedy back to TCDSB in landslide

East Yorkers have sent Angela Kennedy back to the Toronto Catholic District School Board in a landlside.

With all polls now reporting, the incumbent trustee has finished with 54 per cent of votes in a four-candidate field. Kevin Morrison repeated his second-place finish from 2010, with 27 per cent this time.

The other two candidates, Desmond Alvares and Christmas Sy, split the remaining 20 per cent of the TCDSB Ward 11 vote.

This is another chapter in a rather remarkable political story for Kennedy. She was accused of a conflict-of-interest prior to her 2010 re-election bid, which led to opposition from both the Catholic archdiocese and the teachers’ union. But she was eventually cleared of the allegations, and won the 2010 vote.

This time, she opened up an even wider margin of victory.
