Kennedy leads in early TCDSB returns

Angela Kennedy appears set to win another term representing East York on the Toronto Catholic District School Board.

Early returns from tonight’s municipal election haver her easily beating her closest competitor, Kevin Morrison. This is another chapter in a rather remarkable political story for Kennedy. She was accused of a conflict-of-interest prior to the 2010 election, which led to opposition from both the Catholic archdiocese and the teachers’ union.

But she was eventually cleared of the allegations, and won re-election in 2010. She appears headed for another victory tonight, with 53 per cent of votes so far amid a four-candidate field. With 149 out of 256 polls had already reporting, Morrison has around 27 per cent of the votes, and the other two candidates have a meager 18 per cent of the vote between them.
