Michelle Berardinetti takes Scarborough Southwest for a second term

Candidate promises city-operated core services for taxpayers

Michelle Berardinetti celebrated her second win in Ward 35-Scarborough Southwest Monday night.

“There is always great competition in this ward but I was hopeful and confident running on my previous record. I knew residents would be supportive [of me] because I fought very hard for them these past four years,” Berardinetti said. “I am very happy for the win but more thankful for the residents and their confidence in me.”

When asked what her next step as councillor would be, she said her and her team are focused on transit.

“We are going to face transit and gridlock issues in the city. It has been a major issue for a while and is going to take a lot of work.”

Berardinetti adds that taxpayers will see their dollars well spent in Ward 35.

“We have a lot to be proud of, a new fire station and the Warden Hilltop Community Centre that is being operated by the city and not contracted outward. The people feel that we need these core services to be funded by tax dollars and that’s what we’re trying to do,” she said, adding, “now on to fixing transit.”
