Former radio broadcaster Jian Ghomeshi was arrested Wednesday on four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcoming resistance.

Toronto Police say they began investigating Ghomeshi on Oct. 31,  after allegations of several sexual assaults surfaced.

Among the alleged victims of Ghomeshi’s assaults was actor Lucy DeCoutere, who said she was assaulted by him years ago, which helped spark the investigation.

On Oct. 30, Ghomeshi wrote on his Facebook account that he would meet these allegations directly, and has not posted anything since.

Ghomeshi was fired by the CBC, and has since been dropped from his other cultural duties, including his long time management of singer Lights, and by Penguin publishing.

This week, Ghomeshi dropped his $55-million lawsuit for wrongful dismissal against the CBC. Ghomeshi appeared at College Park courts Wednesday afternoon.

He was granted bail of $100, 000 on the condition that he turn over his passport and live with his mother.
