One man is dead, another in critical condition after industrial accident Sunday in Vaughan

Police say door fell on the two workers

York Regional Police say that one person is dead and one severely injured following an industrial accident involving two workers in the Vaughan area.

The call came in at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Applewood Crescent, according to a spokesperson from the provincial emergency medical helicopter airlifting agency Ornge.

“An aluminum door fell on the workers and they were both trapped,” said the spokesperson, who gave her name as Rachel, in a telephone interview.

One man was pronounced dead after paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. His identity has not been confirmed.

Another male in his 50s was airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital. He was having difficulty breathing and suffered head and back injuries, Rachel said.

More details to come.
