Subway flood cleared up, but questions remain

Subway service between Union and Bloor-Yonge station have resumed after a Toronto Hydro substation flood on Monday.

The flood was discovered Monday morning near Richmond and Church streets. The TTC restored service at 8:25 a.m.

Although some have blamed lack of funds for the transit system’s problems, TTC spokesperson Brad Ross said the cause of the floods could have resulted from several problems, such as water pipes freezing.

The main cause for the floods has been cold weather, he said.

Floods have happened at some stations, but not all, he said.

“It could happen again, absolutely.” Ross said.
