Wounded last week, man charged in two earlier shootings

Faces armed robbery and firearm charges

A man wounded in an Etobicoke apartment last week has been arrested in connection to investigations of shooting and home invasion incidents in January and February.

Photograph released by Police of Ahmed Siyad, 22.

Ahmed Siyad, 22, is charged in shooting incidents.

Ahmed Siyad, 22, was arrested on March 19 and faces charges including armed robbery, discharging of a firearm with an intent to wound and unauthorized possession of a firearm, police say.

He was known to police because two days earlier he had himself been wounded during a shooting outside an apartment building.

On March 17 at about 3:15 p.m., police were called to 2063 Islington Ave. for a shooting and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds who was taken to hospital.

After clearing the scene, police were called back at 8:15 p.m. for a second shooting at the same site and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds. That man, identified as Malcolm Marfo, 22, of Toronto, was also taken to hospital but later pronounced dead, police report. Police believe the two shootings are connected.

However, police also allege Siyad had been connected with two previous incidents, one at the same location, and charged him.

According to the police press release, on Jan. 21 two men outside of 2063 Islington Ave. approached a 19-year-old man at a bus stop for his property. A struggle occurred and the 19-year-old was shot in the abdomen.

On Feb. 21 three men forced their way into a residence at 21 Richgrove Dr. and held multiple people at gunpoint while the residence was ransacked, police say. Shots were reportedly fired prior to the men leaving the premises.

Also arrested is Sharmarke Farah, 18, who faces several charges including discharging of a firearm with an intent to wound, unauthorized possession of a firearm, forcible confinement and unlawfully dwelling in a house.
