The $80-million Atos Markham Pan Am / Parapan Am Centre is the first facility of its kind in Markham.

It has an Olympic-sized pool with moveable bulkheads that can change the length of the pool. It will host water polo for the 2015 Pan Am Games. It has an estimated capacity of 2,000 spectators.

The 35,000-square-foot gym meets international height and light standards. The gym will host both the Pan Am badminton and table tennis tournaments, as well as the Para Pan Am table tennis tournament. It also has an estimated capacity of 2,000 spectators.

Atos Markham also has an athletic centre, as well as multiple multipurpose rooms currently being used by athletes in training.

The $80-million venue is the first of its kind in Markham. Facility manager Janis Cookson says she is excited for all the opportunities it will bring for the city.
