Police arrest man in Chinese gold scam

Toronto Police have arrested a man in connection with a Chinese gold artifacts scam.

Police disclosed on Sept. 16 that a man, who had no fixed address, had been posing as a construction worker and attempting to sell supposedly valuable gold artifacts to members of the Chinese community.

The items included small statues, bills and coins. All were worthless, police say.

Cuiping Yang, 49, was arrested Monday and charged with attempted fraud and identity fraud.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17.

Police say they believe there may be more victims.
