Speed limits changed in East York, parts of Toronto

New speed limit signs have replaced 40 km/h signage, reducing maximum speeds to 30 km/h in parts of Toronto and East York.

The limits only apply in the Toronto and
East York district of the city, which includes Wards 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32, because the new speed limit was only approved by the Toronto and East York Community Council, said Eli Aaron, special assistant to Councillor Josh Matlow who first proposed the changes.

Aaron said the signage change cost the city $1.1 million.
