Finish Toronto Beer Week with a pint of Spearhead

Pub crawl starts at 5 p.m. Saturday

Spearhead Brewing Company is closing out Toronto Beer Week with its fifth annual pub-crawl on Sept. 26.

“If you love locally brewed craft beer and the company of good people, you’ll love the pub crawl,” Toronto resident and second-year attendee Kate Davis said, outside of Cork’s Beer & Wine Bar on Laird Drive on Sept. 22.

The crawl begins at 5 p.m. at Victory Café, and is to finish later that evening at Stout Irish Pub. Other pubs participating include Cloak & Dagger and Duke’s Refresher.

Spearhead’s communication director, Karen van Kampen said the event is free to attend and will include “special pricing on Spearhead beer.”

“It’s a lot of fun… We give away a number of prizes, metal bottle openers, t-shirts and other surprises, throughout the night,” van Kampen said

For those who enjoy a more laidback craft beer experience, van Kampen recommends Spearheads mini tap takeover at Corks Beer & Wine Bar in Leaside Village.

Van Kampen said the tap takeover will feature three speciality beers: Hawaian Style Pale Ale, Moroccan Brown Ale and India White Ale.

Davis said the names of these three beers, made her nervous at first.

“Their names sounded exotic and I really didn’t know what to expect in terms of taste but, the vibrant flavours were so refreshing and different,” Davis said.

Her reaction corresponds with what van Kampen refers to as “beer without boundaries,” which was the founder Dimitri van Kampen’s vision when he created the company in 2011.

In his company’s mission statement on their website they say, “we don’t want our beer to fit in; we want it to stand out.”

The mini tap takeover also ends Sept. 26.
