Woman arrested in international child abuse investigation

Arrest part of 2010's Project Spade

Police have arrested the latest suspect in the international child sexual abuse investigation known as Project Spade.

The suspect, arrested Sept.22, was extradited to Canada from Washington D.C. Police say she was actively involved in operating a website called azovfilms.com.

Sandra Louise McFadden, 67, faces a total of six charges including the making, importing, exporting and distribution of child pornography. Police say she also went by the names of Sandra Way, Sandra Waslov, Jenna Wade and Jenna Diane Tate.

Project Spade was launched in the fall of 2010 after the Toronto Police’s Child Exploitation Sector was contacted by a man sharing images of child sexual abuse. The ensuing international investigation led to the rescue of 400 children and the arrest of as many suspects.

McFadden was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 23.
