Danforth restaurant Das Gasthaus raffle put on hold

Restaurateur says another ticket-selling site being sought

Das Gasthaus owner Ruthie Cummings, 46, has had to put her raffle plans on hold.

Last Monday Cummings announced she was raffling her German gastropub at 107 Danforth Avenue for $150 a ticket. Four thousand tickets were available for purchase, expected  to bring in a total of $600,000. The lucky winner would receive a 1,200-square-foot, fully equipped and staffed pub.

Torontonians got excited and 500 tickets were bought in two days. But it seems it was all for nothing, at least for now.

Yesterday morning Cummings announced the contest is on hold until she can find another site to raffle off her restaurant. Ticket seller Eventbrite said the event is not by “Eventbrite standards” and conflicts with the company’s regulations.

The company also announced it will refund the 500 tickets already bought.

The raffle winner was to be picked on Dec. 1 of this year, which should be enough time for another site to be found.
