The most wonderful time of the year is right around the corner.
The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter and that Christmas shopping list is getting longer. It’s a wonder we adore these winter months so much.
But, with the annual Santa Claus Parade arriving in Toronto on Nov. 15, we’re reminded of what a marvel it is to be childlike again, if only for a day.
But, if you find the thought of looking for parking, trying to find a good viewing spot and standing outside in the cold on a wintery November day to see the parade, why not grab a spot on the sofa instead?
If the joy of being in the crowd just isn’t worth the chill, here are some tips that will guarantee you the full parade experience from the comfort of your very own home. Follow these steps to ensure a merry time for all.
- Dress for the occasion:
We have clothes for work, school and going out. Why not clothes for staying home and watching the Santa Claus Parade? Whether you’re content in your pajamas or feel like hosting an ugly Christmas sweater party, let this day be the day that you dress to the nines. How else will Santa see you from the parade? - Invite some friends and family:
The holidays are a great time to catch up with old friends and see family. But why wait until Christmas day? Invite your friends and family over to help you celebrate the wondrous occasion that is the Santa Claus parade. Let it be the prelude to the actual festivities. - Watch it on the big screen:
- Everything is better on a big screen — baseball, basketball and hockey. Gather round the TV as if it were a fireplace (and light that up, too, if you have one) and turn up the volume. You don’t want to miss a minute of the action.

With just a month-and-a-half left before Santa Claus comes down our chimneys, we’ve got to sing loud enough to let him know how excited we are. Spend this day singing along to every Christmas carol you hear throughout the parade. After all, we only get to sing these songs once a year.
