The free, secret sharing mobile Whisper App may be able to help. It’s an anonymous way to reveal confessions or ask questions you don’t want to ask out loud. The app works by inputing your confession, which is then superimposed over an image you have selected, similar to greeting cards.
Privately sharing one’s innermost thoughts may have therapeutic benefits similar to writing poetry, journaling or blogging.
Svetlana Lilova, a counsellor at Centennial College Story Arts Centre, says it typing or writing a confession can be a helpful release.
“It becomes an acknowledgment of what may be difficult or painful or something that’s hard to face,” Lilova says.
“The acknowledgment part also plays a role to provide a relief. Also confessing to someone non-judgemental has a lot of relief, knowing that we are being heard. And we also end up hearing ourselves.”
