Pro-rape activist group cancels meet-up in Toronto after backlash

Radical misogynist Daryush Valizadeh has canceled a controversial Feb. 6 world-wide meet-up.

Valizadeh, also known as “Roosh V,” is the blogger behind Return of Kings. In his website, Valizadeh advocates for rape in private spaces, among many controversial ideologies. The website rationalizes that if rape was legal, it would end.

He was asking people who share the same beliefs to rally in public spaces. A total of 165 meet-ups were scheduled in 43 countries around the world, including 10 Canadian cities. Toronto was among them.

After international backlash, Valizadeh posted on his website that he cannot guarantee the safety and privacy of the people who show up.

“While I can’t stop men who want to continue meeting in private groups, there will be no official Return of Kings meetups,” Valizadeh wrote.
