Six women who left their homes in countries as diverse as Venezuela, France and Dubai to pursue their careers in Toronto are profiled at the City Hall.

It’s a way to celebrate women and careers and perhaps those routes that you might not think were the ones that would be given to you but eventually, you ended up making your way through it.

The public can see the free popup exhibit, Move to Work, Work to Move, on the main floor of City Hall. It features photos of the subjects in the workplaces in their countries of origin, as well as a portrait from their new environments in Toronto and their stories. Their careers include law clerk, singer-songwriter and brand manager at a hair care company.

Organizers Norma Garcia and Cynthia Roberts say the exhibit is a narration of the challenges, struggles and accomplishments the women have experienced after following their paths and moving to Toronto.

“We’re showcasing culturally diverse women that have different professions and different reasons and different paths of getting where they are today,” Roberts said. “It shows a good scope of what women are doing here.”

Garcia added, “It’s a gamut,”

Move to Work, Work to Move is on display until this Sunday. It is part of the first annual Myseum of Toronto festival, a series of exhibits taking place all around the city.
