Teenager re-arrested after fleeing custody at hospital

Caught Saturday in Toronto after fleeing Brampton hospital Friday

Peel Regional Police have arrested a 19-year-old female who was found in the afternoon of Saturday, April 9, after escaping custody the day before.

Mohamed was in custody for assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and theft under $5,000, police say.

Diyana Mohamed was last seen at a Brampton hospital at about 2:51 p.m., before fleeing in a taxi with an unknown male, police say. Mohamed is described as 5-foot-2, of average build, and with brown eyes and black straight hair.

In addition to her previous charges, Mohamed will also be charged with escaping lawful custody.

Also arrested on Saturday, was 18-year-old Tyler Obrien.

Obrien, who is from Toronto, has been arrested and charged with assisting to escape with lawful custody. Obrien was also arrested in Toronto.

The relationship between Mohamed and Obrien is currently unknown.

“Peel Regional Police would like to thank the Toronto Police Service, the public and the media for their assistance in locating and arresting Diyana Mohamed and Tyler Obrien,” police said in a statement,

Both Mohamed and Obrien are scheduled to appear in court in Brampton on April 10.
