Toronto set for historic MLS conference final

Toronto FC set to square off against Montreal after drubbing of NYC FC

This may not be the classic rivalry of the Leafs and Habs, but Toronto has a playoff date against Montreal on Nov. 22.

The city rivals are set to square off in a historic Eastern Conference final in Major League Soccer after both clubs dispatched their New York City opponents in the Eastern Conference Semi-Final.

Toronto FC dominated the NYC FC at Yankee Stadium with a 5-0 final for a 7-0 aggregate score, while the Montreal Impact vanquished the New York Red Bulls 2-1 for an aggregate score of 3-1.

Both clubs will be making their first ever appearance in the Eastern Conference Final as the playoffs head north of the border for both games beginning with the Nov. 22 game at Olympic Stadium before heading down to BMO field on Nov. 30.

Regardless of who eventually wins, a Canadian club is guaranteed a chance to compete for the MLS Cup.
