Greektown banks targeted by robbers

In less than a month, two banks were robbed on Danforth Avenue between Pape and Logan avenues.

One robbery was on Jan. 24 just before the noontime at the Bank of Montreal (BMO) located on the corner of Danforth and Ferrier avenues.

According to a tweet from the Toronto Police Services (TPS), a male suspect was involved in the robbery and fled the scene.

No other information of the suspect or about the robbery was released.

There were no injuries reported, the TPS tweeted. There was high presence of police officers on Danforth Avenue in the noon hours.

The Bank Of Nova Scotia and the BMO are 280 metres apart from each other.

The Bank of Nova Scotia located on the corner of Pape and Danforth avenues was robbed on Dec. 30 just after the noon hour.

According to the Toronto Police press release, the suspect attended the bank, wearing a baseball cap and a hoodie covering his head.

The press release said the suspect approached one of the tellers and handed over a hold-up note indicating he had a gun and demanding money.

The suspect received an unknown quantity of cash and fled, police said.

According to the press release, Gustav Khan, 52, of Toronto was arrested on Jan. 10. Police said Khan is charged with robbery and was scheduled to appear in court at the Old City Hall on Jan. 11.
