Parents and kids can enjoy a day of free skating and other fun on Family Day, thanks to the city and the Maple Leafs organization.

A free Family Day event at Campbell Avenue Park is hosted by the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation and across Toronto the city is offering more activities for the whole family.

MLSE’s free event is to be held at Campbell Avenue playground on Feb. 20 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The foundation is also offering ice skating, cookie decorating, and free hot chocolate.

“We look forward to the spending Family Day enjoying the festivities,” said Lindsay Carter, MLSE’s manager of community development.

The foundation is joining with the city on their Skate Library donation.

Carter says the donation will provide youth with an opportunity to learn to skate.

Maple Leaf alumnus, Daryll Sittler will also be at the event.

Sittler’s attendance is not new for the foundation.

“Sittler and the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni Association … have attended and participated in many of our initiatives over the years,” Carter said.
