Child porn charges laid against Scarborough man

College professor allegedly went by name Williegeedee online

A Toronto journalist and Humber College professor is facing four pornography charges after Toronto police searched a house on Monday.

The search warrant was executed near Kingston Road and Warden Avenue and police arrested a 59-year-old man, allegedly known online as Williegeedee, according to police.

Police believed the man “accessed, possessed and distributed child sexual material,” said Insp. Pauline Gray of the Sex Crimes Unit in a statement Tuesday.

Police allegedly retrieved pornographic images of prepubescent children from a computer and other electronic devices inside the Scarborough family home.

Gregory William Dennis, a Nova Scotia native, has been charged with accessing and distributing child pornography, and two counts of having child pornography.

There are no allegations of hands-on child abuse or production of pornography, police said.

Dennis, who has no criminal record, was released from custody on Monday with conditions that prohibit him from possessing weapons, communicating with minors or accessing the Internet or any other electronic devices.

In a statement, Humber College said it is “deeply disturbed by the situation,” and has “taken the necessary steps to ensure that [Dennis] will not be teaching at the college while the matter is being investigated.”

The accused is due back in court April 25.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
