Toronto police arrested a man downtown on March 24 after an investigation into ongoing child sexual abuse.

A search was conducted in the area of Queen’s Quay W. and York Street and as a result a man was taken into custody.

Police said a man met with a 14-year-old boy on a social media platform. The teenager believed at the time the man was actually a boy his age. The man sent the boy nude images over a dating app and sexually assaulted the teen when they met in person, police said.

The sex crimes child exploitation unit is investigating the sexual abuse.

Police identified the arrested man as Najeeb Saad, 42, of  Toronto and released his photo.

He faces two counts of sexual interference, two counts of sexual assault and luring a child under the age of 16.

Saad is scheduled to appear in court on April 25.
