Residents still fuming over July flood

Natasha Morris has owned her home since 1983, but has not slept in her own bedroom since July 14. She is currently sleeping on a couch in her Scarborough Ward 36 home after a storm left her basement bedrooms flooded on July 15. Her roommate is sleeping on the floor.






Kids connect through cooking

Lauren Kraetschmer delicately cuts up vegetables into bite-size pieces for a bubbling pot of soup. She also stirs sizzling Bavarian sauerkraut decked with peaches. But her favourite part of dinner preparations are the breaded dumplings. “It was funning chopping them up and making them into balls,” she said.


Martin stars as Yankees defeat Blue Jays 11-4

Russell Martin’s 20th home run of the season led the New York Yankees to 11-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.

The Toronto native’s three-run homer was part of a four-run sixth inning rally that sealed the game for the Yankees.


Suspicious fire sparks fear in Byng Ave. community

Toronto Police are asking residents near Pharmacy Avenue and Danforth Road for assistance in their investigation of a suspicious fire which erupted early Tuesday morning.
According to police, a male ‘person of interest’ offered a statement at the local police station, but was later released. No one has currently been charged.
