Dec. 6, 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre. The mass shooting that took the lives of 14 female students at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique. Since then Dec. 6 has become the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
More than four million people of all ages, from 163 countries, gathered Friday to go on a brief strike from their schoolwork. The intention was to protest the indecision they feel is plaguing governments worldwide on the issue of global warming. in Toronto, over 200 people took part in the Global Climate Strike held at Hart House Circle on the campus of the University of Toronto.
As part of #Fridays for Future, also known as the Global Youth Climate Strike, over two hundred people convened near the University of Toronto’s Hart House at lunchtime. The university’s own #Friday’s for Future team, joined other groups in activities around the campus. People from all over Toronto gathered this past Friday to raise more awareness about the climate change issue, by opening opening a dialogue into different perspectives associated with it.
