Arts organizations in Scarborough and across Toronto are breathing a little easier. At least for now. On Sept. 19, funding for the arts in Toronto got a reprieve as city council continued to look for ways to balance its budget. The decision on arts funding has been deferred to a later date.
Artists are known for their uniqueness and peculiarities. Scarborough Arts Council decided to celebrate their strangeness with the 26th annual juried exhibition, Eccentricities at the Papermill Gallery.
The I Have a Dream program is drawing interest from across Scarborough. The program, in partnership with Scarborough Arts Council, will offer free dance workshops in a variety of genres, including contemporary and hip-hop.
A young man, larger than life on the silver screen, points out his favourite parts of Toronto’s downtown Chinatown before looking straight into the camera and declaring, “I’m Vietnamese.” The film, Suite Suite Chinatown, was part of the 14th Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.
A two-day community art intervention took place above and below the Lawrence Avenue East bridge, located east of Orton Park Road.
